Custom Steel Planters

Spring has long been my favorite season here in Chicago. The city finally thaws from its long winter, people start to come outside, and white is slowly replaced by green.

A client of mine has a lovely rooftop deck, perfect for enjoying those first days of spring, but its views were dominated by nearby buildings, rather than the greenery he preferred. He and his designer had a plan to line the deck with planters, but couldn’t find any that were quite right. They approached me with their ideas, and I got to work!

I cut steel sheets to their exact specifications, and welded the planters with hidden internal struts for strength. I then had them powder coated for durability and weather resistance. The resulting planters showed clean, modern lines, and a color scheme that complemented the rest of the deck, but most importantly brought that all important touch of green!
